November Finds - Just in time for Christmas

makeup review

Christmas is just around the corner so it’s time to find those little gifts that will make your loved ones say ‘wow’ and with this rundown, I don’t think it will be too hard! It’s the perfect mix of stocking fillers and gifts priced between $50 - $100.

Napoleon Perdis Stroke of Genius
Out of the long line of Napoleon foundations, my favourite is Sheer Genius. Look 2 is a perfect match for my skin and it offers a flawless application that doesn’t appear too cakey. But this month I ventured over to Napoleon and thought I would try something different - their best selling foundation- Stroke of Genius. I can say that I was very satisfied with the look of this foundation. The Stroke of Genius is a little thicker so is ideal for a night out. Napoleon claims that there are biopolymer filling spheres that even out the surface of the skin and I can definitely see these in action.

Con: The applicator brush is created for ease of application which is built into the tube, however, it is a little hard to control and I would argue that it actually leads to more wastage.

Anastasia Beverley Hills Brow Pencil
I was super excited to try this one! It’s been around for ages and I still haven’t cottoned on to the army of Anastasia Beverly Hills praisers. Normally, I use the goof proof brow pencil from Benefit which has been great. In comparison, the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Pencil offers a fuller coverage and I believe allows you to have more flexibility with your application whether it be for a more natural look or a night out. Medium Brown was the shade recommended to me.

Schick Hydro Silk
Added moisture for your legs during the summer months cannot be forgotten and that's why I love the Schick Hydro Silk! It leaves your skin feeling silky smooth for up to 2 hours after shaving. I love the additional shower holder which means you can keep your shaver dry and moistureless until your next shave. I guess most girls know that not all shavers are great at moisturising and that’s what sets this one apart from the rest.

Con: I guess like with all disposable razors you know that they won’t last forever but I love how the pack includes a replaceable blade (they think of everything!)

Schick women

Benefit Brow Gel
When I go makeup shopping, I often look to the essentials - and this one I will admit was not an essential yet it’s amazing. My eyebrows can be a little unruly at times so a swipe of this stuff does the trick to set my brows in place for a whole 24 hours! The invisible finish means you can’t even tell that it is there.

Con: they say it is a non-flaky formula, however, I have found that after a whole day of wearing this stuff it can start to feel a bit flaky

Urban Decay 24/7 Lip Pencil - Manic
Want long lasting shine with a primer all in one? This is the lip liner for you. My go-to for liners are from M.A.C yet I have noticed that they tend to dry my lips out especially when I keep reapplying and fixing my lips. The pencils are infused with Vitamin E and Jojoba oil for added conditioning. There are 17 wonderful shades. I tried Manic which is a red-based nude. I think for my next colour I will try Naked which is their traditional nude.

Con: Can sometimes be hard to sharpen, would prefer if it was retractable

Mecca Max Powder
When I purchased this one, Mecca Max had just been released - so naturally, I had to try something from the collection. For $25, this powder is amazing. It is like in between the really cheap everyday brands and your higher end Mac and Napoleon. It offers a lightweight buffed out finish which can be customised through application for a more flawless finish.

Con: the pattern almost looks too pretty to ruin
