Melbourne’s hidden Nail Retreat

nails melbourne

Overcrowded nail salons with bright lights and little attention to detail are sometimes unavoidable. In fact, I have found it really difficult to find a salon that challenges that norm. Until I discovered the Retreat Nail and Beauty Lounge. Hidden in a suburban Melbourne side street, you will be delighted to uncover this unique nail and beauty spa. It really is a piece of paradise.

Generation personalisation is here. Whether it be a monogrammed bag, pouch, necklace or a phone cover it’s here to stay and I can’t say I'm complaining. Not only are these accessories the perfect statement to add to any look, but they also double as the perfect gift. Having just purchased a Daily Edited pouch myself and instantly falling in love with it, I thought that it may be helpful to share some of my favourite personalised items.

The Natural Self Tan Aussie Bronze

aussie bronze

There are so many tanning solutions on the market and it can sometimes be daunting to sway from the most popular brands like Bondi Sands and Le Tan.

Aussie Bronze however, is a natural alternative which was developed by an Aussie mum who wanted to provide her daughter with a safer alternative for self tanning. Aussie Bronze is also vegan. I got to try it for myself and am pretty satisfied with the results. It took me a while to get to try it (living in Melbourne and all we don’t get a load of opportunities to expose some skin, besides when we dress up and go out). I interviewed the founder of Aussie Bronze, Sacha to find out a little bit more about the brand and the ingredients used and discovered some top tips for applying Aussie Bronze.

The Top 5 Newest Insta worthy Brunch Places in Melbourne

Brother’s Keepers Cafe
Wow, wow oh wow was this cafe a wonderful experience! My friend Raquel and I were tremendously surprised by this Brother's Keepers Cafe. It was buzzing as soon as we walked in - not a spare table in sight (except for the one set aside for us). We were immediately greeted by one of the owners of the cafe - he loves what he does and this shone through every aspect of the decor and service.

Friday Night Cocktail Ideas

cocktail idea

I am a devout cocktail lover. Why settle for a glass of wine when you can opt for a pretty creation. A bellini or two on a Friday night never hurt anyone but as much as I love to visit Melbourne’s array of rooftop bars sometimes it can be a little fun to have some DIY cocktails.

Review - MUD 'My Ultimate Detox'

I've been so excited to try the MUD detox bath and body mask. I received my gorgeous little package in the mail a couple of weeks ago and have been waiting for the perfect night to experience some me time. It's been so long since I have used a detox product like this or even got a facial- I think my last was about 2 years ago!

Beauty Travel Essentials

I recently returned from a trip to the lovely Gold Coast. It was for my cousin’s wedding. I thought it would be useful to provide my readers with some tips on what you MUST pack when you you are travelling in true minimalist style.

THE BARE ESSENTIALS
Pun intended on the ‘bare’ aspect here.  I cannot travel anywhere without my Razor. Even though it’s winter in Melbourne and shaving may not be high on our list of beauty priorities, when you travel to the Coast and are experiencing perfect temperatures of 22 degrees daily- you need to be prepared. I personally love the Schick women’s range.

Musq Cosmetics - Winter Beauty Routine

Moving into these cold winter months it's extremely important to keep your skin looking hydrated, radiant and healthy. Two years ago I came across the amazing brand MUSQ and seriously I can not fault their range. Based in South Australia and made in Australia this iconic black and white brand pride themselves on creating products that are accredited by PETA making them cruelty free as well as vegan and gluten free.

There are also no nasties in their ranges with all products being free from chemicals, silicones, parabens, talc and artificial colours. I was lucky enough to speak to the lovely co founder of MUSQ, Emma Reid and learnt some handy tips about their winter beauty routine.

Which makeup counter does it best?

I have 5 weddings on my calendar this year —yes that's not a typo, FIVE. I have already attended three and I thought this would be a good opportunity to trial makeup counters.

How to make the most of a warehouse sale

Many girls are hesitant to attend warehouse sales. I mean when you think about it they are a little scary but if you go there with the right mindset it can be truly worth it and your wallet will be loving it. I have been to some of the biggest warehouse sales in Melbourne and I will admit that some of them were daunting. I have been to Kookai, Zachary, Misha and White Suede which are some of the most popular brands and with the right eye I have found some hidden treasures.
