Review: Carmex Lip Balm

Okay, so I’m not over exaggerating when I say that every girl needs a trustworthy lip balm that they can turn leave in the bathroom for every morning, keep on their desk at work and have on their bedside table for before they go to sleep.

Carmex is a long-standing favourite in the lip balm category. I have always seen their products in their iconic yellow and red packaging and associated it with the ‘tingle’ sensation. I remember using the small tub throughout my childhood. This iconic favourite definitely doesn’t get the attention it deserves.

The Limited Edition Pot
So my first experiment was the Carmex tub… except this time it had a little twist, which I absolutely loved. And that was the limited edition leopard print packaging. I think I have mentioned before that I am a leopard print girl; so needless to say, this design was my favourite.

I really love the scent, I would describe it as a slight combination of vanilla and mint. The lip tingle was really noticeable as soon as I applied it, and it lasted me a couple of hours. The texture is smooth and creamy.

Moisturising Lip Balm Stick
I tried the lip balm stick in the original flavour. The lip balm stick comes in Cherry, Strawberry, Lime Twist, Vanilla and pomegranate so you can change it up if you get sick of the same thing easily. The formula is very similar as the pot and personally I think I would prefer the stick version just as it’s a better option for girls with long nails. This one is also a winner as it is SPF 15, water resistant and great for the winter months.

Jasmine and Green Tea Tube
This Jasmine and Green tea flavoured one was a surprise! It doesn’t have the tingle feeling it glides on nicely because it's a gel and I would say is more like a lipgloss (but not too glossy). It has a slight shine and a clear colour. The smell is really great and it pairs well with a lip colour underneath.

Moisture Plus Sheer Pink
This one adds a little fun and colour to the collection because most of the Carmex balms are colourless. It won the reader’s choice Australian beauty award in 2013. At first I thought this colour was a light pink but it comes out as a transparent red. I think it’s great everyday colour. I am really pale so the colour was a bit more noticeable on me, but I think it can work well with any complexion.

One last thing that I must mention is the miniature size of all the products which make it perfect to carry around in any bag at any time! I know with my bag full to the brim with my laptop, diary, notepad and food this is a huge plus for me.

All of these Carmex products can be purchased at Chemist Warehouse, Priceline, Coles, Woolworths and many other leading chemists.

My lips already feel a whole lot smoother!
