Scentrelle- A Christmas gift idea

It’s the question everyone is asking this month and with only a few sleeps to go it’s time to neatly tie the ribbon on your last gift and put a halt to the Christmas dramas in the shopping centre.

When it comes to girls (this may be an over generalisation) but I think it’s safe to say that you can’t go wrong with some body loving through the gift of skincare products, make up, perfume or accessories.

Summer Essentials- Musq

The first aspect that intrigued me with Musq was the simple yet eye catching packaging, which screams quality. It’s amazing what the right packaging can do. I am a lover of monochrome and Musq products reflect this in their gorgeous packaging and logo.

I was thrilled to try their new product range containing serum, moistruisers and cleansers. I am slowly trying to incorporate natural skincare products in my beauty routine, one of the best places to start.

Spring/Summer 2015 Shoe Finds

A new season means new shoes of course!

So I went on a little bit of shoe haul the other day and found some favourite staple shoes to add to my wardrobe.

I would say the perfect combo would have to be a heel, comfortable flat sandal and something in between that can double as casual or dressy—it doesn’t hurt that they are also comfy.

Product Review- Miessence Range

Australian Organic Awareness month has passed, but that doesn’t mean that your skin should be forgotten!! I am so excited to share with you the world's first certified organic skincare and cosmetic range.

“Once consumers realise that health and beauty are inextricably linked, they will have to seriously question those unpronounceable ingredients in their 'beauty' products. We, as consumers, are incredibly powerful. Most of the time we just don’t realise it!” says founder of the Miessence brand, Narelle Chenery.

The Miessence product range encompasses haircare, body/oral care, cosmetics, superfood and much more!

Miessence range

As any innovative new business would, Miessence faced a lot of criticism on their quest to create products which would use solely certified organic ingredients and no preservatives  in their extensive range of products. But the Narelle remained determined to disprove this.

Tesoro Jewellery- Rose Gold Earrings

Anyone who has been around me in the past few weeks has heard about these newly released Tesoro earrings. I actually can’t stop gushing about them. I love anything rose gold and these stunning earrings have made my month!

These rose gold earrings give any woman a feeling of elegance and sophistication. They are perfect for any formal function as well as a dressy day in the office. Hmm... did I mention how they physically feel? The earrings are lightweight and smooth to the touch. The two separate parts of the earrings offer a point of difference in the market with a contrast between silver and rose gold.

Australian Organic Awareness Month- Are you aware?

This September is Australian Organic Awareness Month #AOAM, which is a celebration of all Certified organic products bearing the Australian Certified Organic logo.
“Australian Organic has over 14,000 brands currently holding their certified organic bud logo; and this is not just food it is also wine, baby food, pet products, gardening, beauty, skin care, clothing, textiles and more! You can literally fill you cupboards and fridge with certified organic products!”
You would be surprised that many organic products that you use have this logo and have been approved by the organisation. It’s always great to know that you are doing your bit to live a full and healthy life.

I have found some Certified Organic Beauty Products that I am excited to share with you. If you are sitting there thinking, why should I use organic skincare products over ‘normal’ products, the answer is simple… It’s all about using products, which are kind to your body as well as the environment.

Let’s Talk Business: Laura Lana Creative

Laura LanaCreative was established to assist Australian designers with creative ideas for their brand. The company has worked with brands like 17 Sunday’s, a plus size brand, and a menswear label Hew. They are constantly working with new emerging designers.

The director of the company, Laura, works with brands to improve their current operations in the design sector to help them stand out from the crowd. Laura does this by assisting with mood boards and colour schemes while also providing trend forecasting for the next season to keep designers ahead. Laura maintains long-term relationships with all of the brands she works with inspiring new ideas and dreams whilst fitting in with all of the existing processes and team.

“My experience in this fast paced industry saw creativity and originality get lost amongst demanding deadlines and high volume ranges.”

Laura has previously worked as a designer in the commercial fashion industry and discovered a key downfall in the fashion industry whereby brands were not focusing on the design process, which she believes is a key aspect to success.

“It inspired a business idea; to create an outlet that assists businesses fill any gaps and focus on areas within the creative process that tend to get neglected.”

As with content marketing raising brand performance, the creative design process is the equivalent in fashion design. Originality in Australian fashion is something which is lacking and that is why it is important to invest in the design process.

Spundies- Changing the world of Undies one pair at a time

I have found the new #1 item that every woman must have in their handbags.

Having ‘Spundies’, aka a spare pair ‘a undies in my bag last week at the gym would have been priceless.

The same can be said for that teenager who suddenly had her first period at school and the businesswoman on a delayed flight changeover.

And, of course, the situation that first sparked the idea for Spundies, “We were on a girl’s night out,” said product creator and founder, Bianca Pillon, “and my girlfriend was faced with an exciting proposition for an unexpected sleepover.”
“I also had another friend who was a new mum, laughed too hard and well, I think you can imagine why she needed Spundies too!”
These lovable panties have even been featured on The Living Room television show, loved by the host, Amanda Keller.

Spundies literally have you covered for any of life’s embarrassing or awkward situations. They come in a cute, credit card size tin, which can fit into your clutch or wallet or pocket— how convenient is that!

Review: Carmex Lip Balm

Okay, so I’m not over exaggerating when I say that every girl needs a trustworthy lip balm that they can turn leave in the bathroom for every morning, keep on their desk at work and have on their bedside table for before they go to sleep.

Carmex is a long-standing favourite in the lip balm category. I have always seen their products in their iconic yellow and red packaging and associated it with the ‘tingle’ sensation. I remember using the small tub throughout my childhood. This iconic favourite definitely doesn’t get the attention it deserves.

The Limited Edition Pot
So my first experiment was the Carmex tub… except this time it had a little twist, which I absolutely loved. And that was the limited edition leopard print packaging. I think I have mentioned before that I am a leopard print girl; so needless to say, this design was my favourite.

I really love the scent, I would describe it as a slight combination of vanilla and mint. The lip tingle was really noticeable as soon as I applied it, and it lasted me a couple of hours. The texture is smooth and creamy.

Workout with Artitude- LADY BOLD

Former health and lifestyle journalist Karina, paired her experience and passion to found an active wear brand. But not just any old fitness wear instead one with style.

It is always a little boring to be wearing black on black or other dark colours with one pop of colour.

Wordsmith Candles- They really are sent from heaven

I have just discovered a wonderful small business based in Geelong selling natural soy candles.

Kirsten McDonald, owner and creator of Angel Sent Candles established the eco friendly business in 2005.

Twelve years ago she was diagnosed with a chronic illness, which impacted every aspect of her life, but this never overshadowed her aspirations and with a positive mind Kirsten discovered natural therapies, meditation and most importantly Aromatherapy.

The idea for her Angel Sent candles arose after she got her hands on a soy wax candle from the USA to use during her meditation sessions.

Aromatherapy, positive energy and lot’s of love are the guiding principles for her Wordsmith Candle range.

Legislation in the Paris Fashion Industry

Recently, I was notified about new legislation which has been passed by the lower house of parliament in France which will prohibit the use of models classified as too skinny as measured by a BMI of less than 18.

This would mean that modelling agencies that put forward models that are too skinny can face hefty fines of up to $105,000 AUD as well as 6 months in jail.

Bronze Beauties

This season bronze is the perfect colour to make your eyes, cheeks and lips look stunning! I purchased the Urban Decay Naked 3 palette from Sephora last year and its amazing to experiment with. All of the colours blend really well giving you that natural but not too subtle look.

Although, if you want to achieve a metallic glitter eye, the colours are more natural than flashy. So to create a glam look, I chose the Napoleon loose powder in the shade Pink Champagne to dab over the top. It complements the Naked 3 colours (and my rose gold jewellery!).

My favourite look
I would say my favourite look is created by using 'nooner' on the outer V, 'strange' on my inner corner, tear duct and dusted over the lid as well as to highlight my brow bone. And then I like to use 'liar' and 'mugshot' to darken the outer edge and crease. To complete the look, add a small dab on pink champagne powder over the centre lid.

Add some winged liner and mascara and you are good to go!

Neiman Marcus

Finally, a website bringing the goods to Australia at an affordable price with free shipping over $175 USD.

For those of us who love online shopping sometimes the Australian websites aren't enough. However, shipping off US websites makes it almost impossible to buy.

But not now! I am a huge lover of Michael Kors, and on my trips to America I indulge in the US prices because the prices at stores in Australia are near double!

To get their best out of their website you should sign up to their email notifications. They send a lot of emails but if you are looking at buying something specific its worth it.

Occasionally they have discounts on bags and via email provide you with extra codes like $50 USD off your purchase of over $200.

One of my most prized purchases from there was the Michael Kors Sophie Messenger Bag in SURF. Originally it was $495 AUD. I waited a bit and found that it went on sale for $310 and I used an email discount to get around $65 AUD extra off the price.

Great Buy! Definitely recommend.

How to: repair crushed pressed powders/ eye shadows

So we have all had a day where our brother, sister, boyfriend or sometimes even ourselves (even though we don't like to admit it) have knocked one of our favourite pressed powders/ eye shadows on to the ground, only to have it shatter into a million pieces. It's pretty devastating! And that happened to me today. I couldn't bear to part with my MAC pressed powder so I attempted to fix it and it actually worked. I had heard that 'rubbing alcohol' can help mend broken powder and the one that I found was Isocol antiseptic rubbing alcohol for $9.99 at Woolworths. It's also sold at Coles, Chemist Warehouse, Priceline and Terry White Chemists.

Step 1: Wrap the compact in cling wrap. Ensure it is tight so that the powder is sealed in.

Step 2: Use a rounded cheese knife/ spatula to crush the whole contents of the compact and then remove the cling wrap

Step 3: Gradually add around 10 drops of rubbing alcohol.

Step 4: Take the spatula and begin to smooth over (what most don't tell you is at first it doesn't look like it will work, but as you keep adding the alcohol, the surface turns pasty enough to smooth over.)

Step 5: Clean up the edges with a Q tip and a bit of alcohol. But don't be too fussy as when you put your powder brush to it, it will smooth out and you will be able to clean it.

Step 6: Leave compact open overnight to dry out and be ready for use.
